Designer activities now practically over now [after 58 years!!] wef updating of Building Regulations in June this year - have no desire to start learning all that's involved, plus more greater changes in the pipeline etc etc! Still available should advice +/or opinion be sought!!

Am/was essentially a one man band [though had part time assistance over the years] Designer - Pat Bellay Designers Ltd [mainly architectural - closed my office April 2009 to semi-retire + work from home [*Now practically inactive - see above] + to concentrate more on art] + Artist - BellayArt [mainly abstract/semi abstract] - started.painting in the mid 60,s, stopped in 1967, started again in 2007 [40 year 'gap year'?!] Based now at home > 4 Crown Paddock in Needham Market, Suffolk, IP6 8RY.

*Website is/has always been a DIY attempt [via www.gbbo.co.uk/via Google Analytics/now Google G Suite] + has to be viewed as 'work in progress', even after all this time as I continue to grapple with the mechanics of forming/sorting! For that I apologise, as I still find the whole process quite baffling but I soldier on...! Still 'trying...!*Aug/Sept 20 had to convert website from Google Classic sites to Google New sites! Problematical 'of course' but am still slowly sorting.......!!

The 'Designer' side  of website is very minimal [want to cover 58 odd years in private practice/50 on own a/c - as a matter of record combined with 'Campaign for Revolution as regards the ghastly + utterly negative/useless UK Planning Control system', initially had an odd selection of job photos as attachments but have now replaced these with collection of various jobs [1968 to present time] under  'Design Portfolio'. This will be continually expanded as + when. Concentrating mainly on the 'Artist' side under 'Gallery' - that is continually expanding + includes all paintings illustrated with No; title; media; on board or canvas info; size; price ['those sold'], + frame/no frame....many available as A5 cards @ £2.75 each including envelope, excluding p+p.

*See under BellayArt for 2No ex popup Galleries +3rd + last external venue > Studio [formerly Studio/Gallery] , The Causeway, Needham Market that I closed in this February, to continue working from home whilst keeping association with all those previously featured in Studio. Had over 100 hundred paintings + items in secure dry storage awaiting opportunity to have at home, where 'with immediate access' I can more easily re-invigorate BellayArt activity.....> Now [Oct24] set up in home Studio [ex integral Garage]!

**Personal explanation > As a 'designer' on my own a/c [*Now inactive] I have never ever 'advertised' anywhere as never take on anything I am not prepared to put my name to. All work has come in via recommendation/seen what you do have done etc. Where people have just come across me/seen something I have done, or been recommended, whatever way, in all cases generally I always start off with both barrels first on a like it or lump it basis/take it or leave it what you see is what you get QED. OK that can come across as arrogant +/or bombastic, but that's the way it is! Not a brilliant designer, wish I were, but have always been determined to do my best + build on abilities/experience regardless of budget or circumstance. *Even then there are numerous jobs I daren't go back + look at, full control never been achieved, only part/some little to none! *As of 2020 would only look at any 'design' project if find it interesting enough to get involved, but increasingly reluctant to even think about tackling the planning gestapo/planning system that get/s steadily worse year by year!!

*October 2023 > Persuaded to come out of semi-retirement to design a new one off house here in Needham Market. Inmmediately not sure whether right to do so, but have soldiered on + got Planning Approval on 23rd May. Now ploughing on with details + horrendously daunting new updated Bldg Regs....still not sure of taking this on - even now......??! 

*MARCH 2026 > Belated update!! The one off house referred to above proved to be far more onerous than I anticipated..suffice to say that I had to back out after getting planning aproval...got to MK3  through all sorts of twists + turns aggravated by fact that clients could not sell their existing house [still not sold] to finance the building of the new one  I've run out of steam for the first time in my life [*Along with health issues - though am better off than all of my known contemporaries!!]. So end of - baton taken over for one off house by others more suited to current state of system that beggars belief as it careers on into dreadful who knows what - that I can no longer stomach or wish to be part of?!

At the end of April 26 I will have survived in business on my own a/c for 50 years, albeit rapidly diminished since closing office to semi-retire + work from home in 2009, combined with re-inventing myself as an artist from 2007. Thus 'Designer' phase is now at an end, but I will continue as an 'Artist' [BellayArt] until  I run out of breath, or am shot...whichever comes first!!
